It’s so hard to watch the ongoing devastation created by the flooding in Central Texas this past week. On Sunday, we had a focused time of prayer for all of those affected. For every mission opportunity, the appropriate response is to Pray, Give and Go. We always start with prayer and let the Lord lead us into any next steps of help.

PRAY

Let’s keep praying for those who are working to search, rescue, and serve those who have been affected. They are doing incredible work with intense emotional implications. Pray for anyone you know who is there. Pray for the different departments. Pray for the right equipment and supplies. I’m still praying for miracle rescues. Pray as you are led, and pray often. Prayer is powerful, and prayer aligns Kingdom activity together. Anytime something terrible happens, prayer is where we should go first.

GIVE

After praying if you are led to give, give to a trusted organization. We have set up a flood relief fund on our giving platform. We also know and trust the work that is carried out by Somebody Cares which is right here in Houston. Their network works through local churches who are focused on the ongoing needs of people in the affected areas. They provide resource help, mental and emotional help, and Gospel-centered spiritual guidance and direction. Please be careful about who you give to. Not all charities are created equal. We always like to partner with churches because we know they will be doing the work we would do in the same situation. This is the best way to bring GOOD NEWS into bad situations.

GO

If you would like to go and serve, Somebody Cares has people on the ground and will be mobilizing volunteers soon. Samaritan’s Purse also has immediate opportunities to go and serve. You can find more info here: https://spvolunteer.org/.

Thank you for how you love, care, and provide for people in need. Please let us know if you have any questions, partners, or other information regarding the floods.
